Entrepreneurs’ Adulation
October 1st, 2007On the 12th of September Miller received a visit from the Entrepreneurs’ Forum to discuss and view firsthand what makes Miller a successful business.
The Entrepreneurs’ Forum was created in 2002 by a group of the North East’s leading business people. The idea was simple – to create a cross sector peer group of like-minded individuals who could share ideas, knowledge, inspiration and opportunities in a confidential environment.
The visit began with an introduction from Chairman Keith Miller then a presentation about Miller UK’s history and how the company has grown over the years. The group discussed the business with some of Miller’s Directors before being shown around the manufacturing facilities.
This tour allowed the entrepreneurs to meet the majority of team leaders who were all happy to explain the part they play in the business. After a short private coach journey the Forum also visited Miller’s new site to see where the specialist buckets (up to 36 tonnes in weight) are made.

Once the group had completed the tour and met various different people they received a late lunch, more questions and answers and a summary of the day to close. The day appeared to go very well and the comments that came back were all extremely positive:
Excellent, best factory visit over the last 25 years. I have visited Sony (UK), Panasonic, Pace and Black & Decker but this was by far the best. Very good on content, detail and explaining about the Miller Ethos. Excellent management presentation and informative from the guys on the shop floor, a most enjoyable day.

Visiting the Miller Warehouse.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of visiting Miller. The tour of the factory gave us a clear insight into the manufacturing and production process. I particularly appreciated the enthusiasm of the whole team.
I thought the presentation and the tour of the factory were highly impressive. It was very informative and Miller’s workforce is a credit to the company, they all seemed to really enjoy coming to work. I did come away from the day thinking this is what we need to achieve in my business.

Understanding the history of the quick coupler.
Miller UK is a fine example of a business dedicated to growth. The team’s passion is undoubtedly visible from the moment you arrive. High standards and best working practices have been applied throughout the business.
Thank you for your hospitality during our visit, the Miller Team was truly inspirational.
