Jumping For Josie
August 1st, 2007For most people the idea of jumping out of an aeroplane is their worst nightmare but for six Miller employees it is about to become a reality. In late September the group will complete a skydive at Peterlee in County Durham.
The Miller Group is comprised of six people from across the business, from left to right in the picture below they are:
- Dean Gibson – Dispatch
- Stephen Smith – IT
- Simona Placano – Customer Services
- Clare Dolan – Finance
- Angela Appleby – Customer Services
- Melissa Smith – HR

The Miller Skydiving Group.
As all six suffer from vertigo this jump is a very courageous act. The inspiration and motivation was provided by a young girl that unfortunately they never had the opportunity to meet.
On the 26th of February 2007 at the age of 16 Josie Madeline Grove passed away peacefully with grace and dignity at home in the arms of her family after her two and a half year battle with leukemia. It is Josie’s wish that she be remembered as the girl who was always smiling and the Grove Family would like to thank all the people who have been so generous and shown an overwhelming support for this appeal.

Josie Madeline Grove.
Josie’s wish is that all donations to the Josie Leukemia Fund will be spent to improve the quality of life of children suffering from cancer and leukemia, and for research to try and develop a cure to these devastating illnesses.
Simona Placano commented:
With this jump we would like to raise as much money as we can, not only in the memory of such a fantastic girl, but also to help other children who are suffering from cancer and leukemia. At the end of the day all we need to do is jump.
Thank you for your support!
